When virtual solutions just aren't enough

Many businesses faced changes and challenges due to the Covid-19 epidemic. This included travel restrictions, quarantine, a significant number of cancelled flights and ferry crossings, staff sick or isolating, restricted access to sites, and many other reasons.

Virtual alternatives in many firms have included Zoom, MS teams, minimised contact, w3w to site survey, drones and 3D imaging to survey sites. However, within a non-virtual space. physical items still needed to be installed such as wash pads, water treatment solutions (including our Blue Box and Biox systems). canopies and wash bays.

Business as usual! Key Industries were still operating and we had to find ways around the restrictions, ways that can't be replaced with "virtual".

One of our biggest challenges was addressing overseas project enquiries. We had ten European sites that needed answers and a solution, but it was impossible to attend the sites to install. These sites included Zwolle (NL) Rome (IT) Bologna (IT) Florence (IT) Malaga (SP) Innsbruck (AT) Freiburg (DK) Mulhouse (FR) Rostock (DE) Odense (DK), alongside more UK sites.

Morclean invested in finding ways around this and finding a solution for key clients, which involved:

Modular Design
We re-designed some of our systems in a modular format, with components separated into smaller units for shipping and transporting via 3rd party transport. Many of these items were supplied ready piped and fitted out so that they could be quickly and easily assembled on-site by a 3rd party contractor.

Containerised Plant Rooms
We also designed containerised plant rooms that were fitted out here at Morclean with everything contained within (jet wash, pumps, control panel, compressor, water treatment, lights, sockets, etc.). These fully integrated containers were simply lifted onto a lorry at this end and lifted off at the other. All that needed doing on-site was connecting to the plant room to power and water.

Instruction Manuals and Videos
To round everything off, we produced electronic instruction manuals and video tutorials for assembly, and even online training for European sub-contractors to work with.

All of this allowed for easy installation by others because all of the tech stuff had been done at this end ready to connect together. Making life simpler. Making progress possible.
