Help Morclean finish in last place!

Image
Our MD and cleaning equipment innovator, Peter Morley, will be taking part in the 7th edition of the Slow Race challenge in Italy in September, where the winner is the one to come last! The beautiful town of Guastalla, which sits north of the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy, comes to life once a year when this wonderful event takes place. With beautiful cars, such as Jaguars and Ferraris, all competing for 'last place'. Peter, who will be raising money for two disabled charities - including Anffas, an Italian association that helps with the assistance of people with disabilities -said: “Local members of the disabled community get to have a ride in the selection of cars that enter the race. I will be driving over to Italy in my own car, and all the costs of travel and expenses will be met personally by me or the business, with 100% of any monies raised given to charity.” Peter’s close friend, Ginetto Tosi, the organiser of the Slow Race , jumped at the opportunity when ...

Susan conquers Mount Kilimanjaro

Image
Recently, Morclean had the pleasure of supporting inspirational, local young lady, Susan Glover with her amazing, selfless bid to raise money for Child Reach International by climbing the highest mountain in Africa. Measuring a whopping   5,895 meters  above sea level, this would be no walk in the park for Susan, but her hard work and determination saw her through and on September 1st 2017, Susan managed to summit Kilimanjaro, describing it at "A crazy experience, but definitely one I'll never forget!". Susan visited one of the school projects in Moshi, Tanzania (Ronga School) which is attended by 300 children (in just 4 classrooms) and was able to see how the school is supported by Childreach International. They've recently repainted and replaced the roof, and teachers have completed a training programme on child protection and effective child clubs in schools, as part of the Equal Rights project.  Before the project began in 2015, Ronga was ...

Morclean support local lass taking on the adventure of a lifetime

Image
In our continued efforts to help support local businesses and individuals, Morclean are proudly supporting local lass Susan Glover in her attempt to raise money for Childreach International. With a grand fundraising target of £3000, Susan will be attempting to raise the donations by taking on the highest freestanding mountain in the world- Mount Kilimanjaro! In Summer 2017 she will embark on her crazy adventure to raise money for Childreach International, an inspiring children's charity who work to restore children's rights. Their vision is something close to Susan's heart and is something that is fundamental to her current studies. As part of Susan's trip she will be visiting one of the 8 projects in Tanzania, which lead the way for deaf rights, school farming and in-school hygiene. The School Farming project is about a child's right to food. Rather than giving food and feeding programmes to schools, Childreach empower the community to grow ma...

UPDATE! Smiggle Kitchen Fundraising for Ashgate Hospice

Image
As you all know we like to support local charities, events and businesses - especially where food is involved! On Thursday we told you about the fantastic efforts of Lindsey Adderson of Smiggle Kitchen in Matlock who was raising money in memory of her daughter Jessica for the worthwhile and much needed local charity, Ashgate Hospice . By way of an update on the night, we heard from Lindsey just after the cocktails, canapes and cake event she held, and can confirm the amount raised was a HUGE £1,875!!!  I'm sure you'll all agree that's an awful lot of money; Lindsey is still collecting donations from people who could not make it on the night on her just giving page here . If you have any spare change left from your pay packet, feel free to donate to this worthy cause. We hope whoever won the round of golf at Matlock Golf Club which we donated has a fantastic round!

Help Support TEAM MEGAN!

Image
Team Megan are cycling from London to Paris in May to raise money for a very worthy cause - Arthritis Research UK . It is a charity close to the teams heart with Philip's daughter, Megan, being diagnosed with juvenile arthritis at just 9 years old.  The Team hope to cycle from London to Paris in 5 days - that's over 300 miles to cycle - and raise lots of money in the process for Arthritis Research UK, as well as raising the profile for a condition which is usually attributed with old age.  You can read the full story on their just giving website , where you are also able to make a donation too. We wish TEAM MEGAN the very best in their journey and we hope they reach their target of £7,000! GOOD LUCK TEAM MEGAN!

OXJAM Charity Music Festival, Matlock 2013

Image
For such a small town I always find there’s something exciting going off in Matlock. It has a fantastic Victorian Market, a real community with the shops down there and there’s always something to do and see whether it be the lovely buskers outside the coffee shops or a fun event in the park. So when we heard there was to be an event raising money for Oxfam we thought we had to tell you about it! From 30 th October – 2 nd November forget all about Halloween and Bonfire Night approaching, get yourselves to Matlock's Oxjam Music Fest. There’s events kicking off left right and centre and it’s all for a good cause. These guys want to raise at least £1,000 for Oxfam through the ‘Oxjam’ campaign that has swept the nation. It’s a great excuse to get out and see some local, fresh musical talent and help out a worthy cause at the same time. On Wednesday 30 th October head to the Monk Bar from 8pm as they have a great quiz and will be joined by Sweet Crumbs who will be there sell...
