MORCLEAN SUPPORT NEW WOMEN'S RUGBY TEAM As always Morclean are happy to extend their support to local causes and organisations. In our most recent act of kindness we have agreed to sponsor a new and upcoming sports team- Matlock Women's Rugby Team.   The new Matlock Women's Rugby Squad  Formed by the Matlock Rugby Club in March, the team is going from strength to strength. Starting out with just a few players, their numbers have know grown to 22 which is fantastic. The team train on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings with the support of Gary Rudkin and Sean Wright, who are the Derbyshire RFU Community coaches.  On Sunday afternoon they had a joint training session with Belper RFC ladies and then a friendly game to show off their new found rugby skills. In our continued efforts to help support local businesses and individuals, Morclean are proudly supporting local lass Susan Glover in her attempt to raise money for Childreach International. With a grand fundraising target of £3000, Susan will be attempting to raise the donations by taking on the highest freestanding mountain in the world- Mount Kilimanjaro! In Summer 2017 she will embark on her crazy adventure to raise money for Childreach International, an inspiring children's charity who work to restore children's rights. Their vision is something close to Susan's heart and is something that is fundamental to her current studies. As part of Susan's trip she will be visiting one of the 8 projects in Tanzania, which lead the way for deaf rights, school farming and in-school hygiene. We have an abundance of equipment here at Morclean that can be used for various applications and we're always looking for ways to help the local community. Recently we have lent one of our bowser pressure washers to a local canal renovation project which aims to  restore the Staveley Town Lock and Hartington Harbour. The Chesterfield Canal Trust has spent well over £120,000 on the project (£45,000 of which has come from donations) which is a huge amount of money. Unsurprisingly the Trust were really appreciative when we offered to lend them one of our water bowser pressure washer machines free of charge to help assist in the cleaning of the site. The bowser is ideal for construction sites which don't have immediate access to an electricity source and it runs solely off of a battery.   The lady who takes care of the marketing at Morclean, Claire Unwin, has just completed 'Dry January' and raised a healthy amount for the local charity Ashgate Hospice. She has gone 31 days without a gin and in return raised £212 for a hospice that does great work, with the promise of further donations budging the figure up to the £300 mark.  " We shouldn't take the places that help those affected for granted- you never know who may need to use the services of your local hospice. Ashgate Hospice is undoubtedly a familiar name to many who live within the Borough of Chesterfield and the service they offer to those needing palliative care and support is invaluable." Ashgate Hospice is an independent registered charity covering North Derbyshire that provides specialist palliative care to terminally ill adults and their families, maintaining best quality of life throughout illness.  Well done, Claire!
