Help Morclean finish in last place!
Our MD and cleaning equipment innovator, Peter Morley, will be taking part in the 7th edition of the Slow Race challenge in Italy in September, where the winner is the one to come last!
The beautiful town of Guastalla, which sits north of the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy, comes to life once a year when this wonderful event takes place. With beautiful cars, such as Jaguars and Ferraris, all competing for 'last place'.
Peter, who will be raising money for two disabled charities - including Anffas, an Italian association that helps with the assistance of people with disabilities -said: “Local members of the disabled community get to have a ride in the selection of cars that enter the race. I will be driving over to Italy in my own car, and all the costs of travel and expenses will be met personally by me or the business, with 100% of any monies raised given to charity.”
Peter’s close friend, Ginetto Tosi, the organiser of the Slow Race, jumped at the opportunity when Peter offered to take part in the 2021 edition of the car rally. Ginetto was Morclean’sindustrial translator, who is now semi-retired and a dedicated charity fundraiser and supporter.
The event, which sees the youngsters of Anffas engaged as "navigators" in sports vehicles and vintage cars, has been a huge success over the years. Hoards of people gather in Guastalla‘s main square, Piazza Mazzini, to watch or participate in the event, where a prize is awarded to the car that comes last.
Peter will be donating 50% of the monies raised to Anffas, and 50% to FairPlayin the UK which supports children and young people with physical, sensory, learning and behavioural disabilities. This money will allow these wonderful organisations to purchase more care equipment for the members of their community, providing them with a much better quality of life.
In a world where Peter’s always aimed to come first, in both his business and personal pursuits, it will be interesting to discover if he can actually settle for last place!
