Marketing Mucks in at Project Langar

All was quiet on the social front yesterday, as I embarked on a site visit to take photos of project delivery progress at our Langar project in Nottingham.

It's the first time I've seen the excavation stage of a wash bay installation up close and personal, and it was a fascinatingly valuable experience.

Health and Safety First

Upon approaching Morclean's cordoned-off area, which is under full ownership and control of Morclean or it's subcontractors during works, a vivid blue Morclean H&S station sat at the entrance to the site, The H&S station comes complete with a visitor and contractor signing-in record book, HSE law poster, first aid box, fire extinguisher, and an accident book, together with a fully stocked first aid kit, As an accredited Safe Contractor, Morclean is fully dedicated to ensuring that health & safety procedures are regularly upgraded and updated in line with legislation, and our H&S Station ticks all of the regulation boxes.

Unearthing Processes

The area has been cut and pecked out to leave enough space to erect a steel gantry to the front of the site, and the team were busy digging and removing old mesh grating from the rubble. A skilful excavator operator needs to possess a great deal of patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations, alongside good attention to detail and spatial awareness. It was awe-inspiring watching our excavator operator rip-up, remove and stack heavy solids and debris with gusto.

Drainage Solution

When the site has been fully excavated, a special grey box will sit plum in the middle of the concreted wash pad area with a silt trap fixed over the top to provide a fully contained drainage area. All of the water run-off from the plant washing process will fall into the collection pit and will be pumped through the brown pipe that sits on side of the grey box, providing a water outlet to the interceptor. The interceptor will sit above ground to enable relocation, if necessary, and save excavation.

Jet Wash Innovation

Two user posts and hose reels are to be installed for jet washing. Black concertinaed 110mm ducting will go out to the left and the right of the concreted pad for the jet wash. No long trailing hoses are required, as users posts are being installed. The ducting sits under the bay and the water is turned on and off from the user posts, making the wash bay tidy, retractable and safer, with no trailing cables or hoses,

I'm back on site next week, to photograph and film the second half of the concrete being poured, but if you'd like to know more about our vehicle and plant wash systems in the meantime, visit our site at www.morclean.com.
