A closer look at Fairplay

Fairplay are a charity that Morclean have worked with for many years now, as they are one of the charities that the annual Slow Rally raises funds for. We wanted to dive into what Fairplay do, what great work they achieve, and shout out some of their upcoming events. 

Who are Fairplay?

Fairplay supports children and young people with disabilities and
additional needs, and their families, across North Derbyshire.
 
Fairplay offers a wide range of services to meet the needs of families. We offer support to children and young people, aged 0-25, and to parents and siblings. Fairplay runs play schemes and Saturday clubs for children, youth clubs, activity days, themed groups, and independent living groups for young people, and parent support groups and family trips for parents and siblings.

In conjunction with the Clinical Commissioning Groups and a specialist Community Children's Nurse, Fairplay provides a home based care service for children with complex health care needs that may be life-threatening or life-limiting. The service provides a child-centred flexible service that meets the needs of the child and the family.

Fairplay's services offer families the support that they need and gives them opportunities to take part in positive experiences that make a real difference to their lives. They enable parents to have valuable respite from 24 hour care and give children and young people the opportunity to develop a wide range of life skills.

Fairplay offers services from its purpose built centre in Chesterfield.

Chesterfield Parent and Carer Support Group 2025 Dates

Fairplay offer a Parent & Carer Support Group for children with additional needs. This is a great way to get advice, peer support and guidance who are like-minded and are going through similar situations. Not to mention there is coffee and cake a-plenty! 

The next session is on 11th March. They have them every month and the session runs 10am-12midday.

Think you could volunteer for Fairplay?

Session support – We need volunteers to help with our schemes for children and young people across North Derbyshire.

Event support – We need volunteers to help at our fundraising events throughout the year, from making a cup of tea, selling merchandise to helping out at a sponsored walk.
