The Annual 9th Slow Rally was a success!
Slow Rally 2023
The famous Slow Rally saw the streets of Guastalla this past October and it was once again a huge success!
Guastalla is a small town in the Emilia-Romagna region of Northern Italy with just 7,500 inhabitants. Our friend, Gino Tosi, has been organising this Slow Rally here for 9 years now, and every year it just gets better! Morclean are proud to support and be part of this incredible event.
The Slow Race is the race where you want to come LAST. That's right, it's as slow as you can go all the way round the track! Competitors gain sponsors and raise money to support the cause.
All the money raised by Morclean is split 50-50 between Fairplay in Chesterfield and Anffas Trentino in Italy. Both charities offer support and activities for people with disabilities and their families.
Peter Morley, who always goes out to support and take part in the Slow Rally said:
"I have seen first hand the people that we directly help when money is raised for these two organisations. I'm delighted to be part of the whole team that organises this event."
The event has lots of visitors from locals, and causes quite the stir in the town, as you can imagine! Several show stopping collectable cars take part, and crawl the narrow roads, going as slow as they can! They tour 5 laps on the cobbled streets, past the beautiful porticos and facades. Of course, Gino's famous green Fiat 500 always makes an appearance!
Adults who are supported by Anffas join in the fun and enter the race as passengers, navigating the drivers around those tight corners. It's a joyous afternoon, where the slowest car of them all - the winners - are presented a prize for their efforts.
Of last year's victor, Gino said: "Last year, the winner came last - only because he wanted to stop for the toilet on the 3rd lap..."
This year Morclean raised £979 to add to the grand total. This money provides actual help and support to these two organisations, and we are so proud to be part of it.
Keep an eye out for an update on this years Slow Rally!
