Recently, we supplied a surface-mounted vehicle wash pad and Blue Box partial water treatment system to a leading specialist business in the UK. The combination provides a practical solution for vehicle washing while helping to manage wastewater effectively, without the need for extensive excavation or traditional below-ground infrastructure.

A Practical Approach to Vehicle Washing

For many businesses, installing a conventional concrete wash bay and below-ground drainage system can involve significant groundwork, disruption and expense. This isn't always practical, particularly where a site is leased, existing ground conditions make excavation difficult, or businesses need greater flexibility.

Our surface-mounted wash pads provide an alternative.

The wash pad supplied for this project creates a dedicated, sealed area for vehicle washing. Constructed using welded plastics and fibreglass panels, the system provides liquid containment while its low-profile design makes it practical for vehicles to enter and exit.

Importantly, the surface-mounted design means that extensive excavation isn't required. The pad can be installed directly onto a suitable existing surface, significantly reducing site disruption.

Morclean wash pads can also be manufactured to suit individual site requirements, with bespoke sizes available where necessary.

Managing Wastewater with the Morclean Blue Box

A key part of any vehicle washing installation is effective wastewater management.

For this project, the wash pad was supplied alongside a Morclean Blue Box, our above-ground partial water treatment system.

The Blue Box is designed to treat the outflow from a wash bay or car wash area without requiring a traditional below-ground interceptor. The system is surface-mounted and requires a power supply, with a straightforward connection between the wash bay and the mains foul drain. 

The system incorporates settlement tanks and an oil filter to help treat water from the wash area before it is discharged to a mains foul drain.

It also offers a major practical advantage: minimal installation requirements.

Because the Blue Box is installed above ground, there is no requirement for excavation or extensive builders' works to install an interceptor. Its semi-portable design also means it can be relocated should a business move premises in the future. 

The combination of the two systems creates a complete, integrated approach to vehicle washing and wastewater management.

The wash pad provides the dedicated, sealed washing area, capturing wastewater through its drainage system. The Blue Box then provides partial treatment of the collected water before it is discharged to the foul drainage system.
