Matlock Rugby Club, affectionately known as the Baileans, is embarking on an exciting journey to replace its outdated clubhouse with a modern, sustainable facility that will serve the community for generations to come. The club has launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise £50,000 in its first phase, aiming to upgrade essential utilities before the construction of the new clubhouse begins.

Why the New Clubhouse Matters

The current clubhouse, serving over 400 players, coaches, families, and visiting teams each week, has been in place for over 50 years. With minimal repairs over the decades, it now faces issues such as poor insulation, a leaking roof, and deteriorating timber cladding. These conditions make it increasingly difficult to accommodate the growing number of users and maintain a safe and welcoming environment.

The new clubhouse will not only provide modern amenities but also enhance the club's ability to serve the community. It will support the club's 15 teams, including men's, women's, juniors, and the recently formed SEND tag rugby team, offering a space that is accessible and inclusive for all. The upgraded facilities will also attract more local clubs and organisations, fostering a vibrant community hub.
