The Progress of Project Newcastle: A Comprehensive Wash Bay for Heavy Machinery
Project Newcastle embarked on an ambitious undertaking to develop a state-of-the-art wash bay facility for large excavators and construction machines. The 2 Phase project kicked off with great enthusiasm, focusing on the installation of a 250m2 wash bay, complete with a silt trap and interceptor. Led by Morclean, the project delivered an all-inclusive package, including new equipment, side screens, and an electrically heated jet wash. This blog post follows the progress of Project Newcastle, from its inception to completion.
Phase 1: Excavation and Installation of InterceptorWith Phase 1 in full swing, the Project Newcastle team wasted no time in getting their hands dirty. The first task at hand was to mark out and saw cut the designated area for the wash bay, covering an impressive 250m2. Expert excavators were brought in to carefully remove the soil, ensuring a level surface for the subsequent construction. Simultaneously, the installation of an interceptor took place to prevent any harmful substances from contaminating the surrounding environment during the cleaning process.
Further Work and Slab Construction
As the project gained momentum, Morclean remained on-site, diligently working on various aspects of Phase 1. One significant milestone was the casting of one section of the new wash bay slab. The team meticulously poured and leveled the concrete, transforming the excavated space into a solid foundation. Additionally, they focused on constructing a large silt trap and a 6CuM3 wash bay interceptor, ensuring the utmost efficiency and safety of the wash bay facility.
Phase 2: Enhanced Facilities and Fuelling Area
Building upon the successful completion of Phase 1, Project Newcastle moved swiftly into the next stage of development. The Morclean civils team took charge of Phase 2, which primarily involved the installation of a comprehensive wash bay and fuelling area. This phase was designed to provide a turnkey solution for heavy plant cleaning, catering to the specific needs of the project.
